Loke is an experiment in a way: I've thought about training a Doberman from good working lines as a blood tracking dog for a long time. In his pedigree there are a lot of great Schutzhund tracking dogs and dogs with a lot of prey drive, great working capabilities and temperament. So far the puppy looks ideal - focused and very interested in tracking blood.     . Here is Loke - the new blood tracking dog as a pup.   Loke on his first grouse hunt, 9 months old.  . His tracking so far, at the age of 3.5 months:  I've laid a few short blood tracks for him down wind and on vegetation free ground to encourage him to track with a deep nose. He has been eager, but suprisingly focused at this young age. We'll try to establish this slow focused style which is so beneficial when tracking wounded game. Tracking titles in the pedigree: 
SchH - Schutzhund title. 3 phased German dog sport and breed test, including tracking, 
obedience and protection. There are three levels, SchH III is the most advanced level.  

IPO - International Working Test much like SchH. There are three levels, IPO III is the most advanced. 

FH - (Fährtenhund) Advanced tracking exame. The dog exhibits his tracking ability on a track at least 3 hours old, laid by a stranger, with six ninety degree turns and crossed a minimum of three times at widely spaced points by a fresher decoy track. Four tracking articles, well saturated with the track layers scent are laid on the track at irregular intervals. The articles are found by the dog and are picked up or pointed out. 

Note of interest in pedigree: Kleo v.d. Weyermuhle won IDC World (SchH) Championship in 1996. Bronco vd Doberwache was FH-Landesmeister -98. Gero v.d. Mooreiche was Vice Sieger for 2  DV SchH. Championships and of course Bingo v. Ellendonk AND his dam (Palma) were both DV Lstsgs! 

On these photos he's 7 1/2 weeks old and this is his first day at home in Norway.
