AB's Polychenille:
TYING IN THE TAILS
I've developed a technique for tying in tails on the AB's Polychenille extended bodies, that both are fast, simple and doesn't require extra tools. In just seconds you can make tails on a spinner or dun - with your favourite tailing material. Easy with both fibetts, deer hair, mink hair, elk, moose, Mayfly Tails etc.

TYING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Choose the colour you'd like to use for the particular fly. In this example I am going to
demonstrate how to tie a Ephemera vulgata, with a Tan body. But the AB's Polychenille
Colour: Olive Dun is a fantastic colour for imitating the darker vulgata duns!
2. Fasten a piece of AB's Polychenille in the vice.
In this example I am using a tan colour.
3. Make some snug wraps just behind the jaws of the vice, as a fundament for the tails.
The thread will not slip off.
4. Tie in four Fibetts/ Mayfly Tails on top of the AB's Polychenille with some snug wraps.
Split the tails by pulling each pair to its side before putting all the pressure on the thread.
As tailing material you may use whatever you prefer for your own tying, like hackle fibres,
mink tail hair, Fibetts, Mayfly Tails or moose hair etc.
5. Whip finish and cut off the thread. Drop a small amount of head cement (or super glue)
on to the thread base with your dubbing needle.
6. Place the piece of AB's Polychenille the opposite way in the vice, and clip of the piece
reaching behind the tails. Nice, huh?
7. Now, all you have to do is placing a hook in the vise, run the thread down to the start of
the hook bend and tie in the AB's Polychenille.
8. Dub the rest of the body with a colour similar to the AB's Polychenille you are using.
It's very easy to tie practical flies with this material - flies that are both light, floats high
in the water and looks right. And catches a lot of trout.
9. You may also use biots for the stonefly imitations. Tie them in on each side and have
perfect control.
